In Case Study 1, the focus was on analysing the micro and macro external analysis of the case using three analysis tools; PESTEL analysis, Porters Five Forces framework and KSF analysis. In Case Study 2, we continue our analysis of the case by focusing on the gap analysis to determine possible corporate and business level strategies for the case. After reading and analysing the case NutriNut carefully, please respond to the following questions. Use the headings and subheadings as presented below to present your answers.Title pageThe USQ Cover sheet should not be included. The first page of your assignment must be a title page where the following information must be included: Assignment title Full name and student number Actual word count Email address or contact phone number (If there is a problem with your assignment, it is useful to have your details so that I can contact you). Please present the title page as a separate page. Gap analysis: Capability Gap Analysis (+/- 500 words) IntroductionExplain the role of organisational resources and capabilities in creating competitive advantage according to the resource-based view (RBV). Use theory to support your explanations. Use your text but also other theory sources to add depth to your discussion. Table 1: Capability gap analysisDraw a Capability Gap Analysis table by analysing the organisational resources according to functional areas (Column 1) and capabilities (Column 2) required in these areas. In a separate column (Column 3), match the capabilities of NutriNut to the functional areas. In Column 4, identify the capabilities of the two closest competitors (see example on next page). To enable you to complete this table, identify the two closest competitors of NutriNut. The case study provides you with a number of competitors (see p.8 of the case) and you can choose any two of these companies for this exercise. Use the same two companies for all of the functional areas. The best way of finding information about these companies is to access their websites and read more about their businesses. Because you may not be able to find clear data for the analysis, you are welcome to make assumptions about these businesses. Insert your assumptions as footnotes linked to the discussion that follows the table (Section 1.3).Functional area Capabilities required NutriNut capabilities Competitor capabilitiesOperations Efficiency in volume manufacturingContinuous improvements in operationsFlexibility and speed of response Updated facilities and equipment allows for efficiency in volume manufacturingCertified organic brand???? Jurlique: propagating, planting, growing & harvesting ingredients available raw ingredients supports efficiency in volume manufacturing.Mukti: certified organic brand??Add rows to address the various functional areas. The example shows Jurlique and Mukti as the two main competitors but these are just examples to show how the table should be populated. You need to determine which two companies are the closest competitors. Remember that there is no correct answer here; it depends on your personal approach to the case study. For an example of functional areas and the capabilities linked to these areas, please see your text (Grant et al. 2014, pp.171 -2). Background information available on pp. 167 171 of your text. Table 2: Capability rating by resourceDraw a table similar to Figure 3.6 (Appendix 1, Study Book Module 3, p. 17) to match capabilities with resources and compare with competitors. Start by listing organisational resources in categories of Tangible resources, Intangible resources, Processes and systems and Organisational culture in the first column. In the second column, match each of the resources with a capability that you identified in column 3 in the previous table. For the ratings in the third column (where the rating takes place), rate each capability relative to the closest two competitors by evaluating how far away NutriNuts capability is from the closes competitors. In the previous table (Section 1.2) the capabilities of NutriNut were compared to the competitors capabilities. Now the aim is to put a rating on how the competitors capabilities compare to NutriNut. Use an X or tick (??) to indicate for each capability how you would rate NutriNut against the competitors: a tick or cross in the 0 column means that their capabilities are more or less the same. If you consider NutriNuts capabilities much better than the competitors, you would rank it to the positive side (+1 or +2or +4, depending on how much better you consider NutriNuts capability linked to a specific source. If NutriNuts capability is worse than the competitors, rank it on the negative side. Capability narrativeChoose the top five capabilities that you identified in the tables. Discuss each of the capabilities regarding the reasons why this capability will contribute to NutriNuts competitive advantage relative to the competitors. Your discussion of each of these five capabilities should include a theory component where you use theory to support your views.
